Children’s Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Just like adults, children also need regular six-month dental checkups and cleanings. These routine visits include digital X-rays (if required) as well as a thorough examination by one of our hygienists and Dr. Tran who will check for cavities, damage, infection, and early decay. We’ll also perform a professional cleaning to keep their teeth and gums free of plaque and tartar as well as suggest ways to improve their oral hygiene habits at home.

Dental Sealants

Harmful bacteria can easily penetrate the pits and crevices of your child’s molars and premolars. Known as “chewing teeth,” these surfaces are prime targets for plaque and tartar, especially if they are neglected while brushing. Since these teeth are often the hardest to reach for little hands, we can apply dental sealants for an added layer of protection. Once in place, the clear coating keeps bacteria from penetrating and causing cavities. With proper care, sealants can last for up to 10 years!

Athletic Mouthguards / Sportsguards

Children who enjoy playing sports will find they are more comfortable when equipped with a customized athletic mouthguard. Designed using digital impressions of their teeth, a personalized appliance is created and worn during both practice and games. This protects their pearly whites from potential damage that can result in a cracked, broken, or knocked-out tooth.

Non-Nutritive Habits

Thumb-sucking and the use of a pacifier are common, self-soothing techniques used by infants and toddlers. However, these non-nutritive habits can be harmful to your child’s oral development if they continue them past age three or four. Our dental team will be happy to discuss methods you can use at home to discourage these behaviors so that their teeth, bite, and facial features grow and develop properly.

Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment

Lip and tongue mobility can be significantly reduced if the banded tissues located beneath them are too short or tight. Your baby, child, or teenager may find eating (particularly breast or bottle feeding), speaking, or even breathing to be increasingly difficult. Adults can also experience the negative effects of a lip or tongue-tie. With proper treatment from Dr. Tran, though, he can perform a safe and effective frenectomy to release these tissues and improve a person’s quality of life.
